Echoes of a Fading Heartbeat

It's been almost four years since that day but the memory is as sharp as if it happened yesterday. She was so full of life my sister and in one terrible moment she slipped away falling from a height too high to bear. The sound of her fall seemed to echo endlessly.and before I could process it we were racing against time desperate to save her. The ambulance siren screamed through the air blaring a cruel reminder of how fragile everything was. I held onto hope in those minutes clinging to the thought that somehow she'd pull through. But in the sterile lights of the hospital hope faded as quickly as it had come and she was gone leaving a part of me hollow and broken. Now every time I hear an ambulance's wail that sound reaches into my chest shattering my heart all over again. It's a relentless echo of that last race to save her a reminder of what I lost and can never regain.
