GENERATION X SPIDER-MAN (Issue #41)
TO CATCH A THIEF After being bitten by a genetically engineered spider, young Peter Parker finds that he now has incredibly enhanced strength, speed and agility. Along with the ability to adhere to any surface, a precognitive spider-sense that warns him of danger and a pair of mechanized web shooters, the idealistic teenager fights against evil as the costumed hero Spider-Man. Set during the decade of the 1990's, this is a Generation X version of the Amazing Spider-Man story. This is a time when young people believed that they had the power to change the world for the better. In order to make a difference, Peter will need to rely on his friends for help and have the courage to believe in good. (Written: January 19, 2025) LAST ISSUE: The Attack on America was real. Washington D.C. was nearly destroyed in a vicious attack that was carried out by the evil Zoltan Amadeus and Harry Osborn. Only the heroic actions of Spider-Man prevented this tragedy from occurring. Now, the country has awakened to a sobering reality. The world has changed! New and dangerous threats are out there and must be dealt with if the American way of life is to survive. Life moves on. That is the harsh reality facing Peter Parker. Still reeling from the death of his beloved Aunt May, the brave young man spends the summer of 1992 trying to deal with his pain. It is an ongoing process of grief. Making matters worse is the fact that Mary Jane Watson is no longer in his life. As he prepares to begin his college career at Empire State University, the young man stands at a crossroads. However, Peter's life is about to change once again. A black cat is about to cross his path.

The route to school was familiar, a blur of sidewalks and crosswalks. I cut through an alleyway- a shortcut I'd taken countless times before, despite the uneasy vibe it gave me. I've seen too much in alleyways to feel completely at ease, but desperate times call for desperate measures, right? At first, it was fine. I hurdled my bag over the wire fence that bisected the alley and started climbing. But then it hit me- that subtle hum at the back of my skull. My spider-sense. It started as a whisper, a soft ring of caution. But in seconds, it swelled into a deafening alarm. My hand gripped the top of the fence, my neck craning to glimpse whatever was behind me. Then, before I could process the danger, I felt it-a sharp, familiar sting. A taser. Pain shot through me, and my muscles locked as if every nerve was set ablaze. My thoughts scattered, but one thing remained clear: I freakin hate tasers. My body went limp, falling gracelessly to the cold, unforgiving concrete. He hasn't spoken to Tony Stark since he'd found out the billionaire had wiped his aunt's memory of him being Spider-Man. And now that she knew for good, it had taken all of his negotiating skills to convince her to let him keep web slinging. But now he was ignoring Tony Stark, and no matter how Alexandra or Ned tried to persuade him to talk to his mentor, Peter just wouldn't have it. So now, Peter is basically flying blind without Iron Man there to guide him through the world of being a superhero. At least Peter has his friends to help him. But that whole thing about ignoring Tony Stark? It gets a bit harder when his shop teacher decides that the perfect field trip is to the Stark compound in Manhattan. Could it get much worse? A serial killer and a Hero. Playing a game of cat and mouse while wreaking havoc. Which will outsmart the other? What will be revealed as they get closer and learn more about each other? "Reality is whatever I want." "We'll see." This story uses Marvel's idea of infinity stones, but they're more prevalent. Everyone has at least one. I have an external link at the bottom of most of the chapters that leads to a Google Doc that explains the world. Please let me know if it works. Since Wattpad has an age of consent in their guidelines, I will have the explicit scenes on AO3 and not on here. If scenes like that make you uncomfortable, this will be the version without any of that. If you're curious, I don't use any of the more graphic words, this kind of thing makes me a bit uncomfortable so I wrote it in a way that didn't make me feel weird. Either way, you read whichever version you like. The Wattpad version will allude to some of those scenes however because some are quite important. I'll probably put an announcement or something at the start to let you know.
