Six years had passed since Charlene learned the secrets of the war. Six years since she was betrayed and branded like a steer, but the memories still haunted her. In an attempt to rid herself of the questioning eyes of her peers, Charlie decides to study abroad in Australia. There she meets Aidan, a humble native boy who knows nothing of her past. And for a short while she can escape, that is, until her past comes back to haunt her.

Now, forced back to America, Charlie must face what her father feared most: the people that want to use her for her knowledge.
