Starpath

The Astryvan Empire has thrived on the coastal shoes of the central continent for nearly two millennia, thanks to the blessings of their god, Aster. It had always claimed to be a peaceful country and tended to avoid battles unless necessary. This way of life worked for most of its existence, but roughly 100 years ago, the emperor of the time broke this tradition and sought to expand the empire's lands using whatever tricks he and his council could think of. In doing so, the empire lost many allies, therefore growing their list of enemies.
This seemingly endless power struggle ended only when the current emperor overthrew his tyrannical grandfather and started to rebuild what had been destroyed. To stabilize the empire and rebuild old friendships, he married two women. One came from the desert empire in the South and became his empress, who would rule alongside him. The other was from the frozen kingdom to the far North and she was given the title of queen. Aedan, the crown prince, and Alessandra, the first princess, were born from the emperor and empress, while the second princess, Evelynn, was born from the emperor and queen. Even though this arrangement seemed archaic to some, it brought in a new era of peace across the scorched continent.
The only problem the empire now faced was refinding the fabled Starpath. This path, riddled with trials and blockaded by rules, was made to ensure that the beloved home of the god of the stars, Aster, would find prosperity and comfort in some distant future. However, if the leaders of the empire were to allow it and its people to stray for too long, the ending gifted by the gods could be lost forever. The crown prince knows he must lead his people back to the path, but there are those within his palace who seek to pull the empire farther from this end and towards a fate better suited to their needs.
How long could anyone stand this fight to save the empire from a doomed fate and set the sails back to the proper course?
