Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD is an anxiety disorder that can develop after a person experiences or witnesses a traumatic event. The definition doesn't quite do it justice don't you think? No one is ever fine, especially not in this case. Deny it or don't there is no difference. The only difference is the lie she kept telling herself. She seems fine. She acts fine around everyone else. Artemis has been through enough trauma to last a lifetime and it has, or at least it's followed her this far. The pain, the nightmares, all of it still seems like it was just yesterday even if it has been a year since Sportsmaster died. She was the one who did it too but that wasn't enough to keep everything away. It was supposed to disappear or at least dissipate after a while but it hasn't gotten any better. The team doesn't know what she's hiding deep down even after everything, even she hasn't fully come to terms with the long term effects. The term sounds pretty fancy in a way almost like some expensive champagne that stays in your fridge even though it's supposed to be for "an event". In a way it's exactly like that, it never goes away at least it hasn't yet. It's not even good for anything. Sometimes it's forgotten and seems so far away but it only takes opening the fridge to see it again. Artemis is stuck in this cycle she hasn't gotten better and in order for the PTSD to dissipate little by little she has to start by coming to terms with it. Chapter posted every weekend!
