Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD is an anxiety disorder that can develop after a person experiences or witnesses a traumatic event. The definition doesn't quite do it justice don't you think? No one is ever fine, especially not in this case. Deny it or don't there is no difference. The only difference is the lie she kept telling herself. She seems fine. She acts fine around everyone else. Artemis has been through enough trauma to last a lifetime and it has, or at least it's followed her this far. The pain, the nightmares, all of it still seems like it was just yesterday even if it has been months since Sportsmaster disappeared. She was the one who did it too but that wasn't enough to keep everything away. It was supposed to disappear or at least dissipate after a while but it hasn't gotten any better. The team doesn't know what she's hiding deep down even after everything, even she hasn't fully come to terms with the long term effects. The term sounds pretty fancy in a way almost like some expensive champagne that stays in your fridge even though it's supposed to be for "an event". In a way it's exactly like that, it never goes away at least it hasn't yet. It's not even good for anything. Sometimes it's forgotten and seems so far away but it only takes opening the fridge to see it again. Artemis is stuck in this cycle she hasn't gotten better and in order for the PTSD to dissipate little by little she has to start by coming to terms with it.

They Made Us Monsters by Niyah7212

In a world ruled by disease, fear, and government control, survival is no longer a choice-it's a rebellion. After a virus devastates the population, the U.S. government uses the crisis to seize control, turning teenagers into test subjects in brutal experiments meant to create super-soldiers. Those who are captured vanish into labs where their memories are wiped, their bodies are altered, and their identities are erased. Those who escape are left with scars-and the crushing guilt of the ones they couldn't save. Artemis Cross was never supposed to be a leader. But when she's captured and stripped of everything she knows, she becomes Subject 88, forced into a nightmare of pain, injections, and psychological warfare. Her mind begins to fracture-but one memory refuses to die: Z, the boy who once held her together, the boy she can't forget no matter how deep they dig into her brain. Outside the walls, Z is haunted by her absence. He can't eat, sleep, or breathe without seeing her face. As he and a fractured group of survivors drive through a collapsing America-riddled with graffiti, riots, and people fighting to the death over scraps-Z promises he'll find Artemis, even if he has to tear the system down piece by piece. But the deeper they get into the truth, the more twisted it becomes. Friends begin to betray each other. Love starts to fracture. And the world they thought they knew is far more dangerous than they ever imagined. Because this isn't just about surviving the system anymore. It's about burning it to the ground.

Have you ever met someone who alters the course of your life? For good or for bad, they've come in, given and taken, and then- BOOM! Your life was never the same. There's always a change, an altering of reality. When you meet those people, the reality that you've known your whole life is suddenly gone and a new one has taken its place. When those moments happen, there's no going back. You can try to return to the way things were but nothing, and I mean nothing, can take you back to exactly how it was. That's what happened to us. I think that's why we're still trying so desperately to get back to some sort of normalcy. Four years later and we're still on the ground, crawling, in search of the happiness that was lost that June. Summers will never be the same. Midnight walks through my neighborhood will never be the same. Field parties with bonfires and loud music will never be the same. I still don't know why you left and what lead you to the decision you made. What I do know is that we're here. We're alive and we're pushing forward to the future. A future that you're not a part of. But in some ways, I'm glad you're not a part of it. I just wish it wasn't like this. *** TRIGGER WARNING*** SA, abuse, suicide, substance abuse, and mental illness. This is a complete story that is much like life; fast, full of surprises, and not always how we want it to be. This has been a project of mine for over three years. It was self-published on Amazon, but after some issues in publication, I decided to just upload it on here. I hope you fall in love with these characters like I have. The friends in this story are trying to make names for themselves, figure out who they are, who they can trust, how to love, and how to separate themselves from a restrictive community. As in any coming of age story, they will experience growing pains... but will they survive them before its too late? PLEASE READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS.

Persephone Jackson just wanted a brief hiatus to rest and recover after the Second Giant War. Of course that was never possible because the fates hated her. The Young Justice team was hot on her trails over something she thought had been cleared up with the Justice League. --- "How can we even be sure she's involved?" Artemis asked. "All we have is a name." "And now we have a picture." Robin flipped pulled the image up and showed the team-a slightly blurry child but very much the girl who materialized before them earlier. "I think it's safe to say she's involved." "Well, now what?" Megan asked. "We dont know where she is or how to find her." "We could Google her." Conner suggested. "Don't be ridiculous. We'll only come up with social media accounts. It's useless." Robin said. Miss Martian ignored the black haired boy and looked up the name on Google.com . To say the least, they found more than just social media accounts. Articles upon articles on this girl having performed incredible feats- surviving kidnappings, gunfights, property destruction, evading the police, among other things. "I guess we'll start in Manhattan. That's apparently where she lived at the time of the earliest article." Artemis skimmed back through the first article on her phone. They had all taken to looking her up themselves since it was just that easy. "Sounds like a plan, but we shouldn't go quite yet. We need to be careful, so the League doesn't catch on." Robin said, to which they all nodded in agreement. They all retreated back into the mountain and went to either the Zeta tubes or their rooms, depending on where they resided. They had begun hunting for Persephone Jackson without the permission of the Justice League. --- A female Percy Jackson and Young Justice story. Roy Harper/Red Arrow is the romantic interest in this story and be warned that it will cover hard topics like drug abuse, alcohol abuse, addiction, smoking, death, ect.
