Nyla is a 17-year-old girl who thinks she is in love, but there is a problem the boy the thinks she is in love with is the son of her father's biggest enemy. The man that kidnaped, raped, and killed her mother while her mother was 8 months pregnant with her younger sister.
Nyla was adopted at 7 after spending one year in the orphanage because her father has to keep her a secret so she won't end up dead. She was adopted by an African woman named Calaya and her Hispanic husband Marcell they had a 7-year-old daughter at the time Ashley. Calaya could not have any more children, but really wanted her daughter to have someone to talk to, someone that would always be there for her when her and her husband also Ashley's father were no longer around, so she convinced Marcell to allow her to adopt a child and that child so happened to be Nyla. Calaya instantly fell in love with her it was like she came from her womb. Nyla and Ashley became more than friends they became sisters.
