Kurai was born in a small, rundown neighborhood on the outskirts of a major city. His parents, once hopeful young heroes, had their dreams shattered after an incident in which both were severely injured during a high-profile mission. His father, a former pro-hero, turned to alcohol to numb the pain, and his mother, consumed by guilt and bitterness, retreated into her own world of isolation.

From a young age, Kurai's life was marked by neglect and abuse. His quirk manifested when he was just five years old-an outburst of uncontrolled acid that burned a hole in the family's kitchen table during one of his father's rages. His mother shrieked in horror, his father screamed in anger. And just like that, Kurai learned that his powers weren't something to be proud of-they were a curse, a source of shame.
