The land of Ersee is torn, divided, by the magical cataclysm The Spell Tear. What remains is more than just a scar - it is a gaping wound across the continent, bleeding its twisting reality and corrupting everything foolish enough to brush its hazy boundaries. Those who are foolish enough to tempt their luck never make it back, or at least, not whole. Kaerlior, a young huntress hardened by countless encounters with the torn - these creatures twisted by the Tear - has always survived by instinct and steel. Until her travels return her to Felham, a crumbling village on the brink of the Tear's ever-shifting reach, where she is presented with a challenge beyond the magical and monstrous.

In Torn Fates, Kaerlior's journey is about more than survival - it's about understanding the pieces of herself that she's neglected, the shadows that follow her, and the vanishing threads of hope world that smothers it. This is the first small step into a larger tale of a world on the brink, where the line between man and monster is thinner than anyone wants to admit.

This is short story derived from the introductory scenes for Kearlior, a protagonist in my long form epic fantasy Novel 'The Fate of Shadows'.

His voice was hoarse as he whispered against my ear, "Shh, love. Stop being so irresistible. I want to give you something." He pulled his fingers out of my pants, leaving me empty and frustrated. My eyes snapped to his instantly, a soft whimper escaping my lips. He took out a small, velvet box from his pocket, holding it out to me silently. Curiosity piqued, I opened it to reveal a pair of delicate gold anklets, tiny diamonds and rubies scattered along the chain. I looked up at him questioningly, but he just smiled softly, taking my left foot gently in his hand. He wrapped one anklet around my left ankle, securing it with a gentle click. Then he picked up my right foot, his touch reverent. "Fuck, love," he murmured, "You look even more beautiful with these." He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to my left ankle, right above the anklet. I gasped, he smiled against my skin before kissing my right ankle as well. "Perfect." he whispered. ⚬──────────✧──────────⚬ Aarohi Arora, a soft-spoken, seemingly fragile girl with quiet strength buried deep within her. Selene was never meant to be part of this world. She had once been a medical student, living an ordinary life filled with textbooks, late-night study sessions, and the quiet certainty that magic was nothing more than fiction. Then, she woke up in a world ruled by monsters. For twenty-five years, she has survived on the outskirts of a human village, healing where she can, hiding where she must. She knows little of the High Fae, their courts, or their treacherous games. She knows only whispers-of a wicked queen named Amarantha, of a war that shattered kingdoms, of a High Lord with violet eyes and a smirk sharper than a blade. But when a raid on her village drags her Under the Mountain, Selene is thrust into a world of cruelty and deceit. Powerless and human, she should have been nothing more than another disposable servant. Instead, she catches the eye of Rhysand, Amarantha's right hand. To the world, he is a monster. A traitor. A willing pet in the queen's twisted court. But Selene has seen him at his most powerful. And now, she has seen him at his most broken. Forced into servitude, trapped in a palace where humans do not last long, Selene must navigate the deadly politics of a court built on suffering. But as she uncovers the truth hidden beneath Rhysand's carefully crafted mask, she begins to question everything she thought she knew-about this world, about him, and about the war that looms on the horizon. Because it was not fate brought her here. She was the obstacle to his fate. And fate is watching. all rights reserved to the original author

Every year, Lyra's village gathers beneath the ancient statues of the Fates, offering prayers and sacrifices to keep the creeping darkness at bay. The Ruined Kingdom stands in the distance, a forbidden place where no one enters and no one leaves. A place ruled by a king who does not age, does not die, and does not care for the world beyond his walls. Lyra has never believed in fate, only in survival. With her mother's health failing, she is willing to do whatever it takes to save what little she has left. But when this year's ritual goes terribly wrong, Lyra is taken-ripped from the life she knows and thrust into the heart of a kingdom lost to time. There, she is told she has been chosen. That she, along with others, must vie for the favor of a king no one has seen in over a century. But something is wrong within the castle's walls. Whispers of the past haunt her steps, and the King-cold, untouchable, and shrouded in secrets-watches her too closely. As shadows stir and forgotten magic awakens, Lyra begins to question everything she's been told about the Ruined Kingdom. And, more importantly, about herself. Because the deeper she delves into the mystery of the King and the kingdom he rules behind the walls, the more she realizes: Some destinies are written in blood. And some fates are meant to be broken.
