Mutation: it is the key to our evolution. It has enabled us to evolve from a single-celled organism into the dominant species on the planet. This process is slow, and normally taking thousands and thousands of years. But every few hundred millennia, evolution leaps forward.

Callie Vaughan has attended Professor Xavier's School for Gifted Youngster's for many years. With her finicky Mutation she is convinced that she will never lead a normal life, much to the protest of her teachers. During her time at the School she bonds with others and make relationships that with last a lifetime, and time travel.
