The silence is uncannily loud at the end of the world and when the planks of the old cabin floor are stepped on, they emit a long creak. The shoes above them are that of a ratty old pair of sneakers, almost too small the fit the foot of the boy wearing them. The blood on the ivory tops of his shoes has long since dried, and the cabin is dark.
Lonely.
Dakota Dixon steps in front of the light peering in from the window and exits the cabin through the dusty door with a rusted handle, determined to find any trace of his family. And maybe some good food while he's at it.
