Jack Gordon was an average middle school guy until one morning, on the dawn of his last day of middle school, when a freak accident involving a jar of blue jelly beans left his morning school bus stranded in the middle of Alder, a landscape pockmarked with small groups of people trying to recover from their own untimely introduction to the mysteries within its borders. Can he find a way out, and even more important, will he leave?
