That was before everything changed. Before she accidentally killed a boy her age and was thrown into confinement. A place where she'd remain until she turned eighteen, at which point she'd be floated. Flung into space, erased from existence.

But then came the surprise. Nine-year-old Navya learned she wasn't going to die. Not yet, at least. Instead, she was being sent to Earth. The very Earth humanity had fled after the nuclear apocalypse. The one that had been deemed uninhabitable due to the deadly radiation.

A man named Bellamy Blake took an interest in her. He didn't see her as a nine-year-old murderer. He didn't judge her for what she'd done. Instead, he saw a girl. Just a regular nine-year-old girl who liked to draw, play board games, and was ridiculously ticklish. A girl who absolutely hated beans.
