For Alex, from the moment he was first introduced to Arabella through Miles, there was something about her that intrigued him. It wasn't love at first sight, but there was an undeniable pull. Over time, as their paths crossed in various social settings, Alex found himself drawn to her more and more, though he never acted on it. He figured it was a passing infatuation, something that would fade with time. But it didn't.
The idea of stepping into a romantic relationship with Miles' ex-girlfriend, especially so soon after their breakup, felt like a betrayal.
