'Should you be in trouble, trust the heart.' It's 1950 and Jack Quinn is a knife thrower. The best in all the country, even. He travels with a circus. He's never really had many friends, other than the people he's in the circus with. One day, he meets a stowaway called Pip. Instantly repulsed by her wit and attitude, he finds it hard to welcome her into his very singular world. Veronica, the fortune teller, warns Pip and Jack of great dangers that await them, on the same night Jack meets a sweet, but slightly mysterious, girl named Lucille. Soon after, Jack, Pip and Lucille are taken away from the Arizonian town of Mesa and thrown into an adventure of love and danger.
