monica aubin is really trying her best to just be a shadow.

a quiet chameleon of a girl who tends to keep to herself, it doesn't look like monica has a whole lot to say, but if you were to look inside her head… well, it's a completely different picture. in fact, there's quite a lot going on in her life despite her reluctance to speak up. there's her father, who gave up on his dreams in order to take care of her, and her uncle mason, who feels more like a father than her actual father, and then there's anna, her former best friend who doesn't even want to look at her anymore, and finally, a boy named west, who's doing his absolute best to get to close to her despite the fact that she's doing her best to push him as far away as possible. combined with the process of growing up and all of the emotions that come with it, monica's first year of high school isn't going to be an easy one.

but, maybe, just maybe, that's the way things really are supposed to be.
