My short story is about light pollution and how it takes away the beauty of the natural world. My character thinks about the broken roads they are walking on, which are symbolic, and of all the artificial lights in the city being fake, unnatural, and causing the character to lose their senses. I wrote this in original fiction piece in a surrealist manner, so it doesn't make much literal sense. (This is originally formatted in MLA - Times New Roman, 12pt., double space, etc. and is 1 pg long) Author's Comment: This is a semi-surrealist piece of writing and isn't meant to make much literal sense, and I kept it in one page as said. Notes: Winter/cold is typically associated with dim and shorter days Inspiration from "Manha ̃ de Carnaval" and from the Carnaval from Brazil, and yes, The Backrooms when I said office lights (Cliché I know) Also, minor social commentary on the relationship between nature and civilization Irony of light being blinding Concrete roads are in fact symbolic, or metamorphic. Although there is a message of accepting God, this applies more to God as nature, but if this speaks to you, freely interpret this as your God in particular, but this is NOT to push beliefs or anything of the sort.
