Minnow never believed that she'd love anybody besides one of the people in her forest with hair like the dark of night and olive skin. Yet they saw each other one day, down at the river, and nothing was ever the same. This is a novella/short story broken up into 25 chapters and an epilogue. The approximate word count is 10,000.
