Perseus adopted bother of Achilles son of Poseidon, blessed of Neptune and Jupiter, one of the few surviving leaders that returned from Troy. Perseus was left by his mother on a beach as she was being hunted down by Ares. She distracted Ares and prayed for any sea god to save her son. Poseidon, heard her prayer, but could not directly intervein, so he sent Thetus to take and raise his son, though he did occasionally visited and gave him gifts as he was growing. However when the Trojan war began contact was all most shut off for years.
