A short story about a mother with intense regrets briefly stepping into an alternative past to right some perceived wrongs at a critical time in her life. There are themes of self hatred and dealing with depressive symptoms which can be uncomfortable to read about. As someone who has been through these struggles, I write on these topics to help other people who have experienced these feelings feel seen.

The Way We Fell Apart
Mercy and James thought they were each other's safe haven but love isn't always enough to keep two broken people together. Mercy was never easy to love. When people visit you every single day, it's hard to get lonely. Unless you're a ghost. Actual it gets quite annoying. In fact it's heart breaking when the people you used to love the most look straight through you. It's even worse when they blame you for their broken heart. Because they have no idea I'm dead.
