How did it spread? Easy. Somehow one of them came about, found a human and bit the crap out of them. Probably a naive old lady, or a small child. But whoever it was, that person left and found another person and bit them. The one bitten by the first one bit other people and so on and so forth.

Now the living must find a way to survive. But how well is that going to be when the dead are eating people, and the living are murderous?

Jalen likes to think of herself as an expert zombie killer. She often fantasizes of how easy it would be for her to survive an apocalypse. She thought it would be easy, until she actually lived in one.

She now must use her knowledge of zombies to protect herself and everyone around her. Attempt at survival will be a lot more difficult than planned.

REVISED EDITION COMING OUT MONTHLY/COMPLETED In a world overrun by zombies, A single bite heralds doom - except for Kaindra, who defies death itself, being undead already. ******** As humanity struggles to adapt to the new reality of zombies-infested streets and lurking supernatural creatures from ancient myths and legends, survival becomes an ever-evolving challenge. Survival is a constant battle not only against the undead but also against supernatural creatures and their zealous followers. The relentless onslaught of zombies and the mysterious reemergence of mythical beings push society to its limits. Civilization's last bastions fall one by one, teetering on the brink of collapse. As these ancient myths awaken, they reveal intentions that are far from clear- some may hold the key to salvation, while others could herald further doom. The question remains: Can humanity unravel the mysteries of these legendary beings in time to save themselves, or will they fall prey to the very legends they once dismissed? ___ Excerpt: Taking a deep breath, I lean closer to the mirror, my skin prickling. I thought it was a trick of the light, but as I stare at my reflection, my fragile lies crumble away. The reflection staring back at me feels unrecognizable. My once deep, dark brown eyes now glimmer with an otherworldly light, like twin moons suspended in a sea of silver. The faint glow within them swirls softly, catching the dim flicker of flame I summoned, like ripples across a moonlit lake. Their alien intensity sends a chill down my spine. The orbs seemed to hold a universe within, depths of endless mysteries and ancient wisdom beyond my grasp. ___ Warning: Mentions of suicide and self-harm Beautiful cover made by @scmimi. *THE UNEDITED VERSION* Beware of typos, errors, and general mistakes. This is a very, very rough draft. "I live in a place called Compound 4. We are one of ten different compounds placed at strategic locations around the US. It's been thirteen years since the virus overtook humanity, turning about ninety percent of us into zombies. I'm not sure how it started exactly; that's classified information. I do know that in order to save what was left of the human race, the president at the time took a bunch of really smart people and kids and relocated them into new 'protected' cities. My father was one of those really smart people. I was only five at the time, but I knew what was happening." Within the walls of the compound, Jay makes stupid mistakes, mistakes even she doesn't understand, putting everyone inside at risk. All because she can't shoot someone. All because she misses the wind in her hair, the flowers on the hillsides, the sound of crickets at night. All because she's different, the only person untouchable by the Virus. When the mistakes begin to duplicate, and a girl shows up who knows her name, everything begins to change in Compound 4. Highest rank in Science Fiction: #9
