The year is 2002. Bell Cormier had just moved to the town of Bray, West Virginia, hoping for a peaceful high school life. However, sometimes fate has a way of making plans tumble downhill. Ever since he had set foot on campus grounds, Lauren Fletcher, the popular captain of the school's volleyball team, made it her personal mission to ruin his peace for reasons unknown. From headlocks, pranks, petty mockery, and chasing him with garden tools, Bell is convinced Lauren despises him. However, after a school intervention reveals the truth behind her actions, the lines between enemy and friend start to blur in the most unexpected way possible. Lauren doesn't hate him at all; in fact, it was the opposite. *** He's short and a wallflower. She's got a fiery spirit and hunger for victory, but when it comes to matters of the heart, she's an incoherent mess. Lauren was never interested in romance. She found it to be a waste of time and energy. A bag of scars she carried from her past when her height and personality attracted unwanted mockery. She built a wall of temper and attitude, concealing the sweet girl beneath. When they cross paths, Lauren finds her heart battering her ribs like a caged beast. Why does her head fill with stars when she sees him? Why does his skin feel like morning dew on sun-kissed blossoms? With fierce determination and possessiveness, she aggressively follows the song of her heart, blind to the fact that her actions contradict the very message she intends to convey. *** However, things begin to spiral into madness when a string of grisly tragedies shakes the lively spirit of the town, sending a surge of shock and fear throughout the people. The town held secrets. Secrets that begin to unravel one by one. And Bell isn't who he seems. Who is Bell Cormier really? And why is he in Bray? Would this revelation tear apart relationships and trust? Or would it bind them together stronger than ever? Rated 18+
