Aurora Villane is the Princess of Evalet and the future Queen. She has been training for years to take her mother's place, and since her father is ill, she has been training harder every day. Atlas Laurenas is a soldier in the army. He has been there since age fifteen, and now nineteen, he feels like his mind is older than his body. He was conscripted so young when monsters began raging the land, terrorizing the people of Evalet. His parents died in one of the attacks. And now suddenly, cracks are splitting the lands. Holes of darkness with dark magic the color of blood are sucking people in, trapping them there. And now, he has been placed as the princess's royal guard.
Nobody knows why this is suddenly happening, and the death and destruction that is to come is more than Atlas and Aurora could have ever seen.
