2026. The year that marked the end of the 3rd Great War and the United Nations had agreed to a world-wide isolation. While many nations around the world had joined together to ride out the isolation, many stayed within their borders. One of these nations was the United States of America. Once the final hour struck, the borders were closed, the walls went up and the isolation began.
The first 2 years were a bit of a struggle for the nation. While the process of self sufficiency was slowly growing for almost two decades, the loss of international trade was still felt throughout the nation. The president at the time, Luisa Rameriz, was doing her best and saw some bounce back from the isolation, but once Gregory Keller, the 47th president was sworn into office in 2029, things turned around.
No one could expect the rapid developments President Keller enacted. He oversaw the continued development of bio-domes to grow exotic goods, the further spread of a high-speed rail system across the mainland, redeveloping abandoned areas of towns and cities for housing and businesses, opening new mines to resources within regulations, pushing for more renewable energy, creating new industrial and farming jobs, new opportunities for tourism.
Now, close to two years in, the nation is in a much better position and continuing to get better. The economy is experiencing stable growth and the military, while a bit smaller, is still powerful & has undergone further modernization. Many people, now in a state of security, thought that nothing bad could ever happen again. Though, one fateful night in November, just two weeks before Thanksgiving, a colorful stream of lights covered the nation and soon, a nation of close to 360 million people found themselves not of Earth, but a whole new world...
Everything started in 2036. The pollution was so bad that the end of the world was predicted to be right around the corner. As complete panic set in around the world, the rich and important people were all gathered and placed on giant spaceships with enough resources and room to house generations of human beings. Before they left though, the government leaders fired As a result, most of the human population died off and earth was a complete wasteland. The little that survived started building local communities and trying to survive in the destroyed excuse of a planet.
On the disaster of a planet, creatures mutated and were born out of the nuclear chemicals; creating new species and monsters that hunted humans. While hundreds and hundreds of years passed, the monsters kept evolving and the people kept adapting while still trying to keep a sort of community. They didn't want to lose all of their humanity and become nothing more than animals that hunted the monsters: then they would truly be no better than the monsters themselves. So they stayed civil while still doing what it took to survive.
