Alice Walker is surrounded by friends who have potentiality and talents that make her feel inferior. Growing up in an environment where she observes others more than herself, she comes to the conclusion that she won't be with her friends forever due to her lack of discovering a talent. After realizing wallowing in self pity won't help, she spends her last year of middle school struggling to figure out her destined passion in life.
