Remus Lupin is presumed dead in the Battle of Hogwarts, but he is merely in a coma.
Upon waking, he loses the will to live after learning that Tonks died in the battle.
His son, Teddy, and returning to his old position as a professor at Hogwarts become his only reasons to carry on, until 10 years later a deep friendship with a new Hogwarts Divination teacher brings color back into his world.
NOTES: This story is a remake for my fanfiction "A New Dawn".
1. This my lightest fanfic ever, despite it's sad first chapters.
2. Please, bear in mind that English's not my first language, so I apologize for any mistakes or errors.
3. I don't usually go against canon. However, the idea of Lupin surviving, even with his spirit appearing to Harry, fits perfectly with the concept of a coma and could have happened. We can fit it into canon.
I absolutely adore Tonks with all my heart, but I've had a crush on Remus Lupin ever since I read The Prisoner of Azkaban almost 20 years ago, before seeing the film. Back then, I used to write fanfics (during classes!!! Oops! Even so, I still got good grades! haha) about Remus Lupin and a character entirely inspired by me, called Mary Hallow. In one of those fanfics, set in the Marauders' era and called "Memories of a Marauder Wolf" -which I'm currently trying to rewrite, but it hasn't been easy-I worked through my teenage traumas with the story I wrote.
Although nowadays I only read and write 'Remadora' fanfics (Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks), I decided to revisit Mary Hallow to work through my adult traumas (or as I like to say, 'exorcise my demons'). So, even though this Mary Hallow no longer has a certain issue that defined her in my older fanfics, many of the things in the story are-once again-things I personally experienced.
Basically, it's just another 'fanfic' to complement my therapy sessions. LOL
Those who were taken...
They never came back, dragged beneath the waves never to return.
Their haunting screams were a symbol of their horrific deaths.
Like shadows they lay in wait, the deep blue waters hiding them from view.
With sharp claws they attack,
Pointed fangs tearing into skin,
Eager mouths devouring human flesh.
Cally was taken, dragged under the water by one of the vicious creatures. But she was not devoured nor torn apart by ruthless claws--no.
She was a captive.
~•~
Water instantly invades her senses. Her eyes sting, her lungs and nose burning. She thrashes, kicks, claws--anything to get away. Her efforts go to waste as her body slowly starts to shut down, the air in her lungs quickly being replaced by sea water.
Cally is vaguely aware of arms wrapping around her waist and behind her head before she loses consciousness, submerged in darkness.
And so she is taken.
Another victim of the mysterious sea.
