The Maw of Mourn is an ancient forest that has long been feared by the villagers of Hollowbrook. Its towering, gnarled trees stretch like twisted hands, their bark dark and scarred. The canopy is thick, casting the forest floor in a perpetual twilight, where the air is heavy with the scent of decay and rot. A cold, creeping fog clings to the ground, and the silence is broken only by faint whispers that seem to come from the very trees themselves. The deeper one ventures, the more the forest shifts and changes, as though the paths are alive, leading travelers astray. Those who have gone too far speak of an altar deep within the woods-an ancient stone slab marked with dark stains, a place where the forest's hunger is said to be sated. It is a place where the forest does not simply grow-it feeds, consuming all who wander into its depths. The Maw of Mourn is not a place of rest, but of hunger. Once it calls, it does not let go.
