Changing Tides

My pale chapped lips tasted the bitter cold air which felt like an eternity. My name was as far from me as I was from home. The bones in my body felt as if I was a feeble old woman. As I gathered my bearings I realised to my surprise that I was in a sombre graveyard. The musk of death penetrated my nose as if it was solely targeting me. Then it dawned on me that the brimstone stench was not from the eerie graveyard. I suddenly started to tremble of the thought of where I was exactly. My eyes slowly travelled to the murky granite floor... “Oh, just some dreadful smelling candles" I said thankfully, never even realising why they were there in the first place — if only I realised then that the smell wasn't from the dripping wax.
As I was analysing every speck of dust I could find, I found myself inspecting my tattered looking white dress. Even with the blood speckles aside, I dreaded to think who or what could have ripped this dress apart. "White is really not my colour" I said with conviction, though I regretted it immediately as I was met with a ghost of a howl. Without a moment's thought, I leaped off the strange platform to be met with the muddy sludge which consumed the ground. I noticed for the first time the rune like engravings that were written on my high-heel shoes. Regardless, I had no time to squander, it was life or death; I chose life!
