Beyond the highest mountains and beyond even the coldest tundra, sits the ancient settlement of "Night's Edge", hidden away from the rest of society. The isolated settlement prepares itself for an annual celebration of the new year's coming - the Darlite festival. Being the oldest settlement in the northernmost country, Night's Edge becomes home to many visitors wishing to see the ancient traditions of its inhabitants, most coming a week before the festival to witness the preparations. However, maybe a thousand one-hundred or so years after man first began to count them, the quiet settlement of Night's Edge would fall into a large shadow. A sickly, dark fog, the Graveyard of Gods, the Continental Shadow, or, as most know it, simply by the name of "The Black" had manifested, and for seven days and seven nights, no person can escape or enter the isolated town, those trapped within now must face this unnatural force's effects, both on them and their surroundings. Until Darlite comes, nobody will leave.

Dunmere was never meant to be a battleground. But when the village falls under the grip of a fanatic priest, Bastian and Kira are forced to flee. With nothing but a stolen map and a power Kira barely understands, they head for Carrowen, where they hope the Tidekeepers will help. But the world beyond Dunmere is cruel, and the things lurking in the dark are far older than any priest's magic. If they want to save their families, they'll need more than borrowed steel and desperation. They'll need to fight against a force that does not forgive and a woman who has not known mercy for centuries.
