Hawkins, Indiana; 1987 -

19-year-old Y/N Jackson has recently moved to the town of Hawkins - a strange choice of move on her parent's part as Hawkins was still in the thralls of recovering from what the media described "a biblical level earthquake" and a string of gruesome unsolved murders.
Her parents work as journalists - travelling around the country to secure their next scoop, which apparently... is Hawkins, Indiana.
She'd already missed a year of school thanks to her parents careers; moving her around the country to every town and city that offered them their latest juicy story.

Eddie Munson was always snubbed and looked down on in Hawkins; hailing from a trailer park and finding himself being hauled home by police on countless occasions in the years gone by meant there were only a handful of people who missed him during his disappearance. That was, until a particularly bizarre group of adolescents and townsfolk shared stories of how he saved their lives and almost lost his own during the Hawkins disaster of '86.
Back from the dead seemingly, and a local hero, yet he still remains illusive and humble as he now takes on a slightly less conspicuous lifestyle these days.

This town intrigues Y/N and excites her like nowhere she's ever lived before - and much like her parents, Y/N is keen to drag out the secrets that are hiding behind those white picket fences and friendly faces.
But more importantly... how did that seemingly average high school flunky, Eddie Munson survive the earth quake, vanish for a year, and return unscathed with no recollection of where he'd been. .
