"He walked past no more than four houses when he heard a distant scream from behind him. He immediately said to himself in a silent voice “Lizzy!”. In the blink of an eye he began running back to her house. At his top speed he dashed there and got there in less than half a minute.
He ran inside the house to see traces of blood on the floor and a weeping girl in the kitchen
“What happened?” Dave asked with an expression of sincere concern on his face.
