The Academy of Fates

The Academy of Fates sat atop a jagged cliff, its spires piercing the storm-ridden sky like dark needles. Below, the roiling sea crashed against the rocks, as though it too resented the fortress-like institution that loomed over the land. The wind howled through the empty corridors, carrying with it a cold chill that had settled over the entire realm. It had been centuries since the last great war-- The Sundering-- and yet, as Dorian stood at the academy's gates, the feeling of impending conflict clung to the air like a heavy fog.
