Carick Tiger Montemayor, a wealthy, troubled man who lives on a cruise ship, avoiding his past and responsibilities. Haunted by his younger sister's kidnapping and the tragic loss of his fiancée, Carick isolates himself, until he encounters Apple, a mysterious, traumatized woman with no memory of her past.

Carick becomes obsessed with Apple, determined to protect and keep her close, even as questions arise about her identity and what she might be fleeing. The relationship between Carick and Apple grows complex and intense as Carick claims Apple as "exclusively his," bringing out both his caring and possessive sides. As Carick confronts his own demons while trying to understand Apple's mysterious past.
