Mature
A twist on the original Baldur's Gate story, it begins with Astarion before the mindflayers and tadpoles and then continues on as he's kidnapped and begins his journey for freedom. But he has more to contend with than in the original, instead of Tav he meets a woman named Vesper who promises to help him kill Cazador and then purposely gets kidnapped by the mindflayers to follow him. As they try to cure themselves of the tadpoles, he tells himself he won't love her but will use her to his own end only for her mystery to continue enticing him. He learns there's more to her story then he ever thought possible and has to decide between power, his thirst for freedom, and a new feeling he hasn't explored before.

She fell asleep, and woke beneath distant stars. In a world half-remembered, half-imagined, she wove light into broken fates, and carried strangers in her soul. She fought not for glory, but for a love that was never meant to be hers. Some stories are never finished. Some dreams are never truly left behind. And some- some are written forever across the stars. ⸻ "She crossed the threads of the world-and left a story behind." ____________________________ 🌌 Author's Note At first glance, this might look like a self-insert isekai. A girl wakes up in a fantasy world she knows too well, surrounded by the characters she once controlled. Magic hums through her veins. Danger crackles on the horizon. A certain silver-haired vampire watches her a little too closely. But this story is more than escapism. It's more than romance. It's more than a dream come true. It's about what happens after the dream. About the creeping weight of memory, and what it means to forget who you used to be. About the quiet ache of loving people who were never meant to be real. And the question that echoes long after the last page: If you lost the way home... would you still want to go back? This fanfiction is my love letter to Baldur's Gate 3, to found family, to falling in love with stories-and to those of us who've ever wished we could fall into the world that saved us. So, if you've found your way here... welcome. Take my hand. There are stars waiting for us. -Koda ✨ ____________________________________________ Disclaimer: I do not own Baldur's Gate 3 or any associated characters. All rights belong to Larian Studios. Image is concept art I did for chapter 8. Slow burn romance. Sensitive topics mentioned inside. Reader discretion is advised. If this story had a theme song, it would be more than one. Give by Sleep Token, Sweet Tangerine by The Hush Sound, and TIMEZONE by Måneskin. Tav is a sharp-witted bard with a tongue as quick as her blade. Astarion is a dangerous vampire spawn rogue, bound by shadows and scars of the past. When their paths intertwine, sparks fly. Will something beautiful bloom between them, or will it be plucked before it ever has the chance to grow? - "You are more than what he wanted you to be," I murmur quietly. Astarion's gaze cuts to mine, sharp at first and then softening around the edges. "I'm a monster," he whispers with a shake of his head. "I've lured countless people to their deaths. Innocents." "That's not who you are anymore," I insist. I give his shoulder a gentle squeeze. "You can take back the narrative. Only you get to say who you are."
