I had vowed to give myself and my loyalty and honour to La Cosa Nostra, to the Famiglia. But somewhere along the line she put that to the test.

I'd heard the rumours about him, that he was cold and cruel, that anyone who opposed the Famiglia feared him. I was told I'd be given to him as his wife, to honour and respect him, and to unite our families.
The Mafia is no place for love, or kindness, it was taught to be nonexistent in the hearts of made men. And I expected no less from my husband, but somehow his coldness towards me in our marriage was worse.
Yet I wasn't willing to give up on him, not as his Famiglia crumbled around him, not when there was a chance for me, for us. And if I was going to have more in this life, I'd honour the vows we spoke to one another on our wedding day, even if it meant for better or for worse.
