When Lacy Belshire starts her morning the way she starts every morning, watching the sunrise over the 1100 year old elm tree outside of her window, she doesn’t know that she will be trying to save her brother’s life tonight. Lacy and her brother Jackson are Crycans, living under the regime of the Merchants. The Merchants discovered the Crycans generations ago when their boat came across the fertile land. The Merchants forcefully took over the Crycans and treat the natives as a separate, almost sub-human race.

Outgunned and outnumbered, Lacy must draw on the Law of Unity, an all-but-forgotten mystical way of living practiced by her ancestors to outwit and evade their pursuers.
