Warrior - Friends to Lovers
"Hey." He turned at the sound of her voice. She sounded quiet now, even calm. Her smile was a little sad, but friendly. "Thanks for sticking up to Jenkins for me today, Tommy." The sound of his name from her mouth sounded strange. He realized he hadn't heard anybody say his name in a long time. She took a step forward, brushed her hand down his forearm in a soft gesture, held on and tucked at his sleeve for a second. He followed her hand's movement with his eyes. Didn't move.
"I'd like to be your friend." Her voice sounded quiet, almost shy. He still didn't respond, feeling overwhelmed with all kinds of feelings he couldn't name.
"I've been really lonely", she admitted, still looking at him and he noticed the sadness and grief inside her through her gaze. He knew sadness and grief. Maybe better than any other emotion.
"Okay", he responded, hoarsely, turning his gaze away from her. "Let's be friends."
The events start taking place before the story of 'Warrior' begins and end after 'Warrior'.
