Madelyn Keene, nicknamed Maddox, is a 16-year-old teenager who has been an expert in karate since she was young. After growing up with her brother Robby in an unstable household, where their mother is often absent, Maddox suddenly faces a major life change. Due to family circumstances, she is forced to move in with her father, Johnny Lawrence, a man she barely knows and with whom she has a strained relationship.

She is also compelled to join the Cobra Kai dojo, where she encounters an environment as brutal as it is demanding. Her talent for karate, honed over the years in various dojos, quickly catches attention, but her rebellious nature and independence soon put her in conflict with Johnny and the other members of the dojo.
