Coronation night 1953, two strangers meet in a bar, it is love at first sight and they feel as though they have known each other forever. 1955 - Alex Turner is an intelligence officer with MI5, married and a stepfather to a daughter he adores. He mixes with society's outsiders and writes an explicit novel about gay men, and in an age of paranoia, he becomes of interest to the security services.
Alex is given an assignment - to go undercover to investigate Miles. He is shocked to discover he is none other than 'Philip' the man he fell in love with two years ago. Alex finds himself conflicted - knowing he has to do his duty by his country, but feeling ashamed of deceiving the man he loves.
