A teenager from the United States named Marvin Anderson moves to Japan, together with his family, due to his father's job, finding himself in an unfamiliar culture and environment. Amidst the initial isolation and challenges of adjusting to a new life, he meets his neighbor, a quiet Japanese girl named Hina Kimiya who spends most of her time indoors.

As they grow closer, Marvin discovers that Hina has xeroderma pigmentosum (XP), a rare genetic condition that makes her extremely sensitive to sunlight, forcing her to avoid daytime activities. Together, they navigate the obstacles of her condition, learning from each other's cultures and perspectives.
