Leonidas, a cold, rude, arrogant Alpha, was raised by his father to think that mates are beneath them. His mother was physically and mentally abused but his father, and that was what he thought was the right thing to do. Constantly warring with himself on how to treat his future mate, he decides not to accept her altogether, whoever she is. She would weaken him and his position, and it was easier to reject and forget her.
Eleanor is a plain she-wolf living in a pack that treats women as servants. Women are only tools to men, only used to clean the household and produce children for their mates. She thought the right thing to do was to let men control her every decision, always look down in submission, and never speak unless spoken to. She wishes for her mate to get her out of this hell, but is afraid this hell will always be in her mind.
Leonidas is stuck in his pride, Eleanor is stuck in a hell impossible to escape.
