"You're upset," L said finally, his tone as matter-of-fact as ever. "Understandably so. But I need you to articulate what you're feeling, Light-kun. We cannot afford for emotions to cloud our judgment."

Light let out a bitter laugh, the sound low and broken. He pulled back just enough to look L in the eyes, his own gaze red-rimmed and glassy. "Is that all you ever think about? Judgment? Logic? Strategy?" His voice cracked on the last word, and he looked away, his jaw tightening as if to hold back the torrent of emotions threatening to spill out.
