When the last ray of light JUSTICE cast into the universe was absorbed by Dawn, he awakes from his eon-long slumber. His wish to become a Fallen had worked, but his form was now unfamiliar. He follows the echoes of stars praising the humans' discovery of magic until he finds Earth. A reflection of JUSTICE bounces onto him from the planet, and so he makes the descent to search for them. The further he plummets, the more compact his core becomes, until his shape is digitigrade. He lands near one of the primary magic schools and is met by a student and teacher. Upon seeing them, he compacts his form to be similar to theirs. Humanoid but with pointed ears, jagged teeth, and glowing eyes. Flames that mimic hair in every way but motion. After their cautious meeting devolves into a curious interrogation, the school of magic decides its best interest in hosting the creature. Besides, if it had to learn the customs of humans, what better place than the one most capable of their defense? As Dawn is taught human ways and human magic, he befriends the fiery spellcaster Xari and their stern but well-meaning teacher Yenric. Their lessons take a turn for the worse whenever Yenric gets more and more distracted by his secondary position of magical sleuthing. The three magicians are faced with the threat of an ancient cult, magical elements stronger than any found on Earth, and the elaborate coverup of a forgotten headmaster. To top it all off, past wounds are reopened during the climax of their containment of the Eigoil urn. Will Xari face his past head on? Does Dawn ever become coherent? Only time will tell.
