" You going to be a good girl, right?"
My dad looked at me, who has been a village boy all his life. My mom, who has always been a child care worker for the employed people in our small village, smiled.
" i will dad, i promise"
Dad: Good, then. He took the papers and signed the full bursary papers i got for being the top student in the whole district. We got money vouchers which i gave to my mom to buy me and my baby brother clothes and his school uniform. With another voucher, we were able to extend our two room house into a 3 room. To say my parents are not proud is an understatement.
Dad: So now what?
Me: I'm leaving in 2 weeks. I'll need sleeping things and cooking stuff.
Dad: So you really are going to be a doctor one day?
Me: That the plan, dad.
He looked at me, grinning.
Dad: Sinovuyo... i knew naming you by this name it will bring nothing but joy into our life and you have made us so proud, but remember when you get to that varsity of yours know that our problems are no longer yours okay!!!
Mom: Yes, focus on you now. You have done more than enough for us, Sno.
I nodded as I looked at my parents, who showed me nothing but love. Yes, we have been poor most of our lives, but iv always gone to bed with a full tummy. I have always had a school uniform, and it may not be new, but it was a school uniform none the less. Iv had kids laugh at me at school, had neighbours pass on they clothes to us, but that just how i grew up. And now, now my future looks so bright and I am not going to disappoint them. My name is Sinovuyo Mjoli, and this is my beautiful journey. All the good and bad of my journey, we going to laugh, cry, enjoy this bumpy ride🤍
