Anjela Dewitt and Carl Grimes were best friends in their first year of middle school, right before the whole world went to shit. 

	Ever since the apocalypse started, Carl started to despise Anjela and she had no idea why, but right after they lose the prison and all get separated, Carl, Rick, and Anjela all end up  on the road together, searching for sanctuary and to hopefully find the others, and the only person even slightly happy about them all being together, was Rick.
