On a quiet Summer night a huge storm descended upon the shores of the Mist Continent, near Noe Town. As the huge downpour accompanied by enormous winds and thunder laid siege upon the beaches, from the eye of the storm a bright beam of light rose above piercing the clouds, dispersing the storm, thus putting an end to the damages the locals would've needed to suffer otherwise. How did it happen? Where did it come from? What was it exactly? That's what this story is about to tell.
Light in the Night is a story about Zelgius, the Umbreon researcher trying to find a connection between the Mystery Dungeons and the very stars shining down upon us from above. On his field trip to an uncharted point on the Misty Sea, he's accompanied by Dragonslayer Altina, and her group of mercenaries for hire. However, coming from two radically different life situations, clashes are unavoidable. But with enough patience, understanding, and perseverance there's no challenge these Mon can't take... right? Will they overcome their differences? Can they manage to survive the trip, and come back in one piece?

Celestia, Arvan, Ingres, Illicen, and Arumi. These five territories are named after those who control them. At least, that is how it used to be. From a distant land, the Snake Kingdom managed to bypass the Leviathan, and invade these five territories! Under the guidance of General Clauve, they crushed everyone in sight, until their only remaining opponent was Celestia. But they made a mistake, and Celestia capitalized. In a crushing defeat, the Snake Kingdom was bested after nearly 8 years of conflict. After the war ended, Albedo Aria, a soldier from Celestia, was promoted to the rank of General. But she didn't feel like a hero. Suffering from severe PTSD, this story follows her as she tries to overcome the nightmares of war, and move on from the terrible things she was forced to do. She was raised to be a soldier, and joined the war from the age of eleven. As a soldier of Celestia, she could never, and still cannot ever disobey any orders. When war calls, she must answer. Whether she is truly willing to or not. But after four years without conflict, surely things couldn't reach that state again? Or perhaps that isn't the case. After all, her dear cousin must deliver a letter to her. A letter telling her that the Snake Kingdom is on the rise in their very own land. I have gleaned inspiration for this Reader-Insert in three sources: the first one is the song "Lambency" by the artist Spectacle-P (featuring Hatsune Miku). The second one is two beautiful litterature works - "Night on the Galactic Railroad" by Kenji Miyazawa, as well as "Life is a Dream" by Pedro Calderón de la Barca. In the background, I have been listening non-stop to the album "Sora no Niwa" by Akino Arai. You will certainly notice the omnipresence of the lexical field of light and dream in all its forms... If you do not know them, I recommend you listen to/read them as their influence have helped me build an entire mood in this fanfiction! Please note the illustrations are mine. Enjoy!
