As the Golden Age of Spellhome in the realm of Barria begins to dwindle and fade, it's people find themselves doubting in the existence of Mages. For the first time in twenty years during a dangerous expedition to the north of Barria, Harlow The Wandering Blade and his small outfit of mercenary soldiers witness their return to the world. In order to find the true purpose of this expedition, Harlow will have to learn from the past of one of the most powerful Mages to have ever lived: Jodun, The Lightning Mage, who turned nearly every mercenary in Barria into ash some twenty years ago during The Coin War.
Can Harlow learn from the Mage's past and save his expedition from the perils of The Fade? Or will they soon all face The End together?
