The Ghostly Brides of Mercer Hall

A fierce chill creeps through the room, raising gooseflesh. I freeze, my every sense prickling.
I'm no longer alone. Turning, my gaze falls upon an eerie grey silhouette in the corner. Is she Vivienne, the ghostly bride? Her shadowy figure hovers closer, her tattered burial gown flowing around her. The phantom's anguished eyes hold mine before she fades away. The lamps flicker back to life as she releases me from her influence. I sink into the bed, my heart racing. Although I find it hard to grasp, I have undeniable proof that Mercer Hall is haunted. A bone-chilling scream from the hallway shatters the stillness.

I rush out to investigate and find several frightened maids hovering outside my door. They have seen the apparition leaving my room. They stare behind me. I turn, then gasp. The room is in complete disarray- wardrobe flung open, linens torn from the bed, and my clothing scattered as if by an angry whirlwind. No windows are open. No one is in my room. The ghostly brides sent me a warning.

Knowing I'll fall victim to the ghostly bride's curse, how can I marry Sir Ambrose? Can he keep me safe, as he promised?
