Headstrong girl who didn't believe in falling in love over the internet got caught between a guy she met through the penpal system the school has set up and reality. When she realizes she'd probably never met the guy she'll fallen in love with down in South Africa she settles for second best until an accident brings her to South Africa. She then realizes at 17 years old that just because he's not in front of you, it doesn't mean it's impossible.

They didn't start with real names.
