Sanemi Shinazugawa, a member of the Japanese yakuza, is ordered to find and track down an ex member of the same yakuza and bring him back. He travels to a small island where he finds the ex member working as a fishmonger. He thinks it is going to be easy since any member would come back for the right price but he learns it is harder than he thinks and he actually ends up falling in love with this man.

He does get the man to rejoin but as soon as he is back he leaves and stomps on Sanemi's heart. It is years before Sanemi sees him again and he is still so in love and this time he isn't going to let go of him.
