This is a series of short letters an English soldier during World War 1 wrote to his wife*.
*His wife, Annemarie Bradford, has no relation to the Annemarie Bradford in Fight For Freedom and Revolutionary Letter (two of my other short stories.) I just like the name. I wasn't even going to put this on Wattpad, otherwise I would have picked a different name, but my friend urged me to do so. Enjoy :)

A Three-Way War
Set in the era of the Civil War, Ann has always struggled with her position in life. She's gutsy, with enough bravado to put the mightiest warriors to shame. A long-time friend of Ann's, Florence knows how it feels to be looked down on. But she can feel her warrior's heart inside her, urging her to fight in the Civil War, to fight for the freedom of her people. Unleashed anger and frustration burn in her bloodstream, begging to be set free. But how can she fight, when she's just a girl? Hugh is a seemingly selfish, self-conceded Southern boy who has been conscripted to fight the North. As the war rages on, he struggles to choose a side, indecision tearing at him. He knows that while one choice might be morally right, he knows that choosing that side could rip him from the beliefs his family has instilled in him since the day he was born. In a brutal twist of fate, all three of their lives collide, when Hugh, Florence, and Ann meet each other on the bloody battlefield of Gettysburg. Wildflowers In The Ruins: A 1917 Story
Completed fan fiction for the film 1917: This is the very first fan fiction I've ever attempted. Please be kind. I hope you like it. It features all of the main characters, several of the others, plus many I've created. Northern France, April 1917: A Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse is sent on an urgent mission across no-man's land accompanying two Lance Corporals, but she will have her own mission to fullfil also and be tested in ways she never deemed possible. Each chapter is named after a flower, relevant to the story, and that you can encounter growing in the wild, either in Britain or Northern France, with the exception of roses and Sweet William's. This story does contain spoilers from the film so it's really worth watching it first. Chapers two (from around halfway through) to eight I've taken directly from the film. The script is copyrighted to Sam Mendes and Krysty Wilson-Cairns, although I've worked from what's spoken in the film rather than off the script. I've taken inspiration from other films, television and books (fiction and non-fiction) set in the First World War too such as Forgotten Voices, The Roses Of No-Man's Land, War Horse, The Crimson Field, Private Peaceful, They Shall Not Grow Old, Testament Of Youth, Journey's End and Birdsong. I've also taken inspiration from the beautiful book A Song For Will which is based on the true story of the gardeners and labourers from the Heligan Estate in Cornwall. Every character who isn't featured in the film 1917 is fictitious and the names are entirely made-up, although every female character's Christian name in my story belongs to a female relative of mine who was alive at the time of the First World War, for example my four Great-grandmothers were Mary-Jane, Lavinia, Ada and Alice.
